Drawing from “This is the Shot” many of my favorite images strategically cover subjects faces, eyes or capture them looking away from the camera. This anonymity to me allows the viewers to set aside their opinions on the superficial features of the subject of the image and scan the entire scene to make an idea of the whole picture. With that, I get the opportunity to have viewers move away from creating an opinion of my works first based on whether or not they find a model “beautiful”. Second, I believe that my images then offer an unobstructed pathway for macro analysis and encourages micro analysis of the elements within the photo. These photos are meant to be evocative and I leave the interpretations up to the viewer. There are few people who out are frame who know what really was happening but we’ll never tell.
This is a LARGE 24x36 print of my friend, dentist, and my favorite model to work with Dr. Lina Abideen taken at the Storm king Art Center in New Windsor, NY.
